JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – A final round 301 and an eight stroke improvement for the UWG women’s golf team resulted in the Wolves finishing in third place at the Jekyll-O-Lantern Intercollegiate on Jekyll Island at Jekyll Island Golf Club.

 

All five golfers shot in the 70s on Monday for just the second time this season as the Wolves moved up one spot on the leaderboard, and finished 12 shots behind team champion, North Georgia.

 

Individually, Maddy Schultz continued her outstanding play, shooting a second consecutive 74, posting a 36-hole career low of 148, posting a career-best fifth place finish. The freshman made two birdies and four bogeys on Tuesday to finish two-over on the day.

 

Michelle Bagsic also notched a top-10 finish, individually, coming in a ninth place tie with a final round 74. Coupled with Monday’s 76, Bagsic finshed with a 36-hole total of 150.

 

Another freshman, Katherine Densmore finished tied for 20th after a final round 77. Layne Marie Carter got back to her old self, shooting a 76 with three birdies, all on the back nine, and finished in a 33rd place tie.

 

Ari Samuel  posted a 78 on the final day, finishing in a 35th place tie and a 159 total.

 

The Wolves now set their sights on the spring season as this event wrapped up the fall portion of their schedule.
