ROME, Ga. – Two days of competition are in the books for the UWG Track and Field team at the GSC Championship meet. The Wolves ended the day in third place with 55.83 points behind UAH with and Lee.

 

Heptathlon

Upon the finish of the heptathlon, Nadia Davis set a new school record for points in the heptathlon with 4098 besting Amber Frazier’s 3953 points in 2016. Davila finished fourth overall. Paige Berriochoa finished seventh overall with 3316 points.

 

Throws

In the shot put, Brandi Boddy took to the podium for second place with a new school record of 12.65m. Ravae Cox threw 12.27m for a new personal record and good enough for a fifth-place finish in the shot put. Tyra Babbs lead the Wolves in the discus throw with a toss of 35.92m for a new personal best and a seventh-place finish.

 

Jumps

Friday evening concluded the jumps with pole vault where Merica Valdez had a podium finish for second place and Sydney Ross finished fifth overall, earning 12 points for the Wolves. Earlier on Friday, Nadia Davila jumped at 1.62m which was good enough to podium for second place. Merica Valdez jumped at 1.57m for a sixth-place finish in the high jump. Aalayla Farr lead the Wolves in the triple jump with a jump of 11.40m for fourth place and a new personal record. Meghan Daniels snagged a point in the triple jump for eighth place with a jump of 10.69m.

 

The final day of the GSC Track and Field Championship meet will begin Saturday morning at 10:00 am with the javelin throw. The finals for all running events will take place throughout Saturday and the Awards will follow the 4x400m relay.
