ROME, Ga. – UWG Track and Field takes top honors at Victor Icebreaker Duals hosted by Berry College. The Wolves tallied up 118 points as a team. The other GSC teams in the competition like Lee and Shorter fell short of the Wolves by at least 21 points. This team has its eyes set on the Conference Championship and is checking these wins off along the way.


Here is how the Wolves accomplished their victory:



Aalayla Farr had another successful weekend scoring points in the triple jump and the long jump. Farr placed 5th in both events with a jump of 10.65m in the triple jump and 5.05m in the long jump. Tora Wright got on the board too in 8th place with a long jump of 4.95m.


Merica Valdez is another Wolf who brought in points in the jumps. Valdez placed 2nd in the pole vault at a height of 3.26m and 3rd in the high jump at 1.56m. Also scoring points for the Wolves, Nadia Davila placed 5th at 1.51m.



Tyra Babbs started the day off placing 6th in the hammer with a throw of 37.02m. Babbs also placed 4th in the discus with a new personal record of 34.38m. MJ Jones also scored points for the Wolves in the discus in 7th place with a throw of 32.97m.


A pair of Wolves coming in 4th and 5th in the shot put, Brandi Boddy and Ravae Cox both set personal records. Boddy threw 11.70m besting her previous 11.39m while Cox threw 11.16m besting her previous 11.08m. Paige Berriochoa also brought in points for the Wolves in javelin throwing 30.51m for 6th place.



Amina Saunders, for the second week in a row, took the gold in the 400m hurdles after running a 1:05.02. E’Myah Carter grabbed points for the Wolves taking 8th in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:12.4.

Saunders was also in the pack of Wolves going 2-3-4 in the 100m hurdles. Nadia Davila ran a 15.04 for 2nd in the 100m hurdles with Saunders and freshman, Tora Wright in 3rd and 4th place. Saunders ran a 15.41 while Wright ran a season-best of 15.78.



Dawn McCaskill and Ashley Davis took 4th and 5th in the 200m dash with times of 26.19 and 26.24. In the 100m dash, Makalah Cannon placed 7th with a time of 12.62 and McCaskill took 8th in 12.67. Freshman Heather Lundi ran a season best of 1:02.46 in the 400m dash and took 8th place.



Both of the West Georgia relay teams scored in the 4x100m relay. The A team, Makalah Cannon, Rickia Stafford, Dawn McCaskill, and Rolayo Roberts) took 5th place with a time of 48.58 while the B team (Tora Wright, Heather Lundi, Meghan Daniels, and Aalayla Farr) took 7th with a time of 50.35.


The B team (Synia White, Paige Berriochoa, Rolayo Roberts, Heather Lundi) took 8th place in the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:22.98.


The Wolves have two weeks until their next competition at Emory on March 22-23 in Atlanta.
