OXFORD, Ala. –  The West Georgia Track & Field squad had a successful day at Choccolocco Park on Saturday, with multiple Wolves winning individual events against Division I competition and setting numerous personal records. The Wolves won the meet with 210 points besting three Division I teams with Jacksonville State only putting up 205 points for second place. 



In the long jump, freshman Tora Wright led the Wolves with a jump of 5.26m, placing her in second place behind Jacksonville State. Along with Wright, Meghan Daniels and Aalayla Farr took fifth and sixth place,  jumping 5.22m and 5.13m. In the high jump, Nadia Davila and Merica Valdez took fifth and sixth, jumping a 1.54m and 1.49m.


Freshmen dominated the triple jump for UWG, with Meghan Daniels taking third at 11.02m. Aalayla Farr and De’Asia Keller finished behind Daniels in fifth and sixth with jumps of 10.68m and 10.30m. Merica Valdez took top honors in the pole vault with a vault of 3.30m, with Sydney Ross right behind her tying for second with a vault of 2.90m.



In the hammer throw, Tyra Babbs placed third with a new personal record of 39.58m. In fourth place Brandi Boddy set a new personal record with a throw of 39.54m. Three other Wolves scored in the hammer as well, taking sixth, seventh,and eighth place were Kayla Williams, Ravae Cox, and MJ Jones.


Babbs also took top honors in the discus throw at 35m, with Jones just an inch behind her in second at 34.97m. Boddy, Cox, and Elizabeth Johnson placed sixth, seventh and eighth. Cox took top honors in shot put with a toss of 11.92m and Boddy was right behind her in second with a throw of 11.38m. Jones took fifth place at 10.80m and Williams and Babbs tied for sixth with a throw of 10.59m.


Paige Berriochoa set a new personal record in the javelin with a throw of 34.73m for second place. Jones also scored in the javelin with a throw of 29.33m for sixth place.



In the 200m dash, Ashley Davis ran a 25.20 for second place with Dawn McCaskill and Amina Saunders taking sixth and seventh in 25.90 and 26.47. McCaskill running a 12.63 and Makalah Cannon running a 12.66 they took seventh and eighth for the Wolves in the 100m dash. Meghan Daniels and Heather Lundi claimed fourth and fifth in the 400m dash with times of 1:00.76 and 1:01.07.



Amina Saunders took top honors in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:02.60. Freshman, Malaya Miles also claimed a top honor in eighth place with a time of 1:12.61. Saunders took second in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.49. Nadia Davila ran a 15.34 for fourth place, Tora Wright took fifth in 15.53 and Miles took eighth in 16.69.



In the 4x100m relay West Georgia took third and fourth with their A team (Cannon, Stafford, McCaskill and Roberts) running a 48.25 and their B team (Wright, Thomas, Daniels and Farr) running a 49.60. UWG took fourth and fifth with their A and B teams in the 4x400m relay. The A team (Carter, McCaskill, Thomas and Daniels) ran a 4:16.87 while their B team (White, Lundi, Keller and Berriochoa) ran a 4:21.83.



In the 5000m for the Wolves, Marion Bartilol ran a 19:41.42 for fourth place. For the first time this season Ebonee McCrory ran the 1500m for the Wolves in 6:19.06.


The Wolves are back in Rome next weekend for the Berry Field Day Invitational.
