CARROLLTON, Ga. – UWG track and field heads to Rome for the Berry Field Day Invitational. This will be the team’s second time competing at Berry this season after they won the Victor Icebreaker Duals in March.
Friday afternoon, the meet will start with pole vault, hammer and triple jump in the field events at 3:00 pm. On the track, the 1500m race will start the day at 4:45 pm with the 5000m race and the 10k following. The rest of the events will take place on Saturday.
In the hammer throw, Tyra Babbs and Brandi Boddy are ranked sixth and seventh going into the competition. Ravae Cox and Boddy are seeded fourth and sixth for shot put and Paige Berriochoa sits in fourth for the javelin.
Merica Valdez is seeded second in the pole vault with Sydney Ross in fourth. Aalayla Farr and Meghan Daniels sit at third and fourth going into the competition on the triple jump. Nadia Davila is in the top eight in the high jump seeded fourth along with Valdez seeded seventh.
Amina Saunders and Nadia Davila will chase down Shorter in the 100m hurdles with Saunders and Davila ranked second and third behind Shorter. Also in the top eight is Tora Wright seeded eighth. Saunders is also seeded fourth in the 400m hurdles.
Dawn McCaskill will run in the fastest heat of the 100m dash as she is ranked seventh and also in the 200m dash where she is ranked fifth. In the 4x100m relay, the West Georgia A team (Makalah Cannon, Rickia Stafford, Dawn McCaskill, and Rolayo Roberts) is ranked third with Shorter and Emory ahead of them.
Ebonee McCroy and Marion Bartilol will be running the Friday distance races for the Wolves.
