Carrollton, GA – Head coach David Dean has announced a key addition to his UWG Wolves coaching staff. Dean has named veteran Dustin Landry as the Wolves’ new defensive coordinator for the 2018 season.
Landry brings an impressive resume to the UWG staff. He has served as defensive coordinator at four previous stops, including a season ago at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. He previously held similar positions at FCS Western Carolina (2016), Holmes (Miss.) Community College (2015), and Navarro (Texas) Community College in 2012.
Landry began his coaching career as a student assistant at his alma mater, Auburn, in 2007. He mentored in 2008 under Gene Chizik as a graduate assistant at Iowa State before returning to Auburn in 2009, and was on the defensive staff during Auburn's 2010 national championship run. Landry was also reunited with Chizik at North Carolina as a defensive quality control coach prior to taking the Holmes defensive coordinator job in 2015.
A native of Gulf Shores, Ala., Landry received his undergraduate degree in criminology from Auburn in 2006 and his master's degree in college administration from Auburn in 2009.
Landry will be on the sideline as the Wolves begin spring practice for 2018. Drills will culminate with the spring game on March 15 on Ra-Lin Field.
