CARROLLTON, Ga. – For the final time in the 2018 season, the West Georgia Wolves soccer team is set to face a non-conference opponent as UWG is set to travel to Dahlonega, Georgia to take on 23rd-ranked North Georgia on Wednesday.
The last time out, the Wolves got a big 4-0 win over Gulf South Conference for Alabama Huntsville to move to 4-4-2 on the season and 4-2 in league play.
Four different Wolves scored goals in Sunday’s win, starting with Alexis Lewis whose 33rd minute goal proved to be enough for the Wolves. Early in the second half, Katie Mitchell made it 2-0 with Nikki Conte and Madison Cobb adding the third and fourth goals.
Defensively, the Wolves got their third shutout of the season, and will need more solid defense on Wednesday as they travel to take on nationally-ranked North Georgia on the road.
The Nighthawks are 7-1 on the season and winners of their last five games. UNG is led offensively by Renee VanHorn with nine goals. Hannah Goudy is UNG’s leading goalkeeper with 23 saves in seven contests.
The two squads met last season, with North Georgia taking a 3-2 win in double overtime in Carrollton. West Georgia 0-4-1 all-time against UNG.
Kickoff for Wednesday’s game is set for 5 p.m. from the UNG Soccer Complex in Dahlonega, Georgia.
