CARROLLTON, Ga. – The final weekend of the soccer season is upon the UWG Wolves soccer team as West Georgia hosts Shorter and Lee on Thursday and Saturday at University Soccer Field.

The Wolves come into the final weekend with a 6-9-1 record overall and a 4-7 mark in Gulf South Conference play following last weekend’s 1-1 roadtrip with a win at Union and a loss at Christian Brothers.

In the win on Friday, the Wolves got goals from Madison Cobb and Karley Baker, while Cassidi Thomas picked up a pair of assists. It was the fourth of the season for Cobb and the third of the year for Baker.

It will take a pair of wins and some help to get the Wolves into the Gulf South Conference tournament. Shorter enters the weekend one spot behind UWG in the standings with a 2-13-1 overall record and a 2-8-1 mark in Gulf South Conference play.

Lee visits West Georgia on Saturday, and has already clinched a spot in the GSC Tournament, entering with a 13-3 overall record and a 9-2-1 GSC record.

Thursday’s game against in-state rival Shorter kicks off at 5 p.m. with Saturday’s Senior Day game against Lee slated for a 1 p.m. start. Senior Day ceremonies will take place following the conclusion of Saturday’s contest.
