CARROLLTON, Ga. – For the third straight season, the UWG Wolves soccer team is headed to the postseason as the Wolves locked in a spot in the Gulf South Conference tournament on Sunday afternoon.
With Montevallo earning a draw against Delta State on Sunday, the Wolves are guaranteed to finish at least eighth in the standings, and go to the tournament for the third straight season and in the first year under head coach Stacey Balaam.
West Georgia could either be the eighth, seventh or sixth seed depending on how the final week shakes out. West Alabama and UWG are tied with 21 points, while CBU is currently in the sixth spot with 22 points. UWA travels to Huntsville on Thursday while CBU hosts Union. The Wolves host North Alabama at 1 p.m. on Thursday afternoon at University Field.
The Wolves are coming off of a 4-0 road win at Spring Hill on Friday night in a game that saw four different Wolves find the back of the net.
Thursday’s game with North Alabama is set for 1 p.m. on Thursday afternoon at University Field. West Georgia will have to take care of business and then wait to see scores come in around the league to see where they will travel for the opening round of the tournament.
