CARROLLTON, Ga. - On Friday, the women's cross country team will run at the JSU Strut's Season Opener, to officially kick off the Ryan Bailey era with the opening meet of the 2017 season in Oxford, Ala. The meet, which features a men's and women's race, will begin with a 4K for the women at 7 p.m. (EST) on the course at Oxford Lakes.

Bailey Roberts looks to lead the top four runners this fall and is one of two returners among the top four in Bailey's first year as head coach. She will be followed by sophomore Alexis Smith and a pair of freshman, Mackenzie Morse and Alaina Burnside.

"I will be relying on the top four at this first meet to carry us through some tough Division I competition," said Bailey. "I've taken teams to this meet multiple times throughout my career and it will be a good test of where we are early in the season."

Injuries during preseason practice have created an open competition heading into the first meet of the year, as Amie Wimberly, Kim Dezwart, and Paige Braswell look to compete for the fifth spot, and Bailey will look to one of those three to help push the Wolves' overall score up throughout the year.
