OXFORD, Ala. - It was a seventh place finish to open the new season for the West Georgia Wolves women's cross country team as head coach Ryan Bailey led the Wolves into competition for the first time at the JSU Strut's Season Opener 4k at Oxford Lakes.

For Bailey and the Wolves, Mackenzie Morse was the top finisher, placing 45th with a time of 17:04.50 in her first action for UWG. 

A pair of Wolves crossed the finish line in 54th and 55th place as Alaina Burnside and Alexis Smith finished with times of 17:39.40 and 17:40.30, respectively. For Burnside, it was her UWG debut as the true freshman competed against collegiate competition for the first time.

Returners Shelby Parsekian and Bailey Roberts came in 66th and 67th for West Georgia. Parsekian finished with a time of 18:13.90 while Roberts was just behind her at 18:15.30.

Amie Wimberly was 71st as she finished in a time of 18:35.60 while Kimberly Dezwart finished in 75th place with a time of 19:35.80.

Next week, the Wolves head to Cartersville to compete against more Division I competition as they run in the Stan Sims Invitational hosted by Kennesaw State.
