CARROLLTON, Ga. – The UWG women’s cross country team is poised to compete in their first meet of the new season tomorrow in Carrollton at 5:45 p.m. starting at the Observatory. Cross country’s Friday meet is the first and only meet that will be in Carrollton for the 2018 season.

The women’s cross country team is young for second year head coach Ryan Bailey, but the Wolves have some talent despite the youth. UWG has four sophomores and only one junior on the squad and the Wolves added one freshman to the mix for the 2018 season.

Sophomore Mackenzie Morse is predicted to be a top contender for UWG this year, as she had a strong finish to last year’s season, and was the top UWG finisher in every race as a true freshman in 2017.

“The women have some good competition to run against on Friday. It will be a good test to see where the season will go, especially with the young faces we have on the team,” said head coach Ryan Bailey.

The Wolves will be competing against Lagrange College, Clayton State, and Clark Atlanta in a 5k starting at 5:54 p.m. on Friday. The race will begin on the Observatory Field and utilize the trails through that part of campus and finish on the same field.
