CARROLLTON, Ga. - The West Georgia women's cross-country squad took on the field at the Gulf South Conference Championships on Saturday morning, finishing in 13th place in the team competition at the Jesse Owens Course in Danville, Ala.

A pair of freshmen, Mackenzie Morse and Alaina Burnside, were the top finishers for the Wolves at this year's championships, as the pair finished within four seconds of each other in 67th and 68th place, respectively. Morse crossed in 20:48.14 in the 5K, while Burnside checked in at 20:52.65. 

It was a similar result for the final three finishers for the Wolves, as that trio all crossed within 11 seconds of each other. Sophomores Alexis Smith and Shelby Parsekian crossed in 21:39.67 and 21:48.26, respectively, while Bailey Roberts was just behind them at 21:50.64. 

The Wolves will run next in Lakeland, Fla. on November 2, taking on the field at the NCAA South Regional Championships.
