DANVILLE, Al. – The women’s cross country team is set to compete at the GSC Cross Country Championships this Saturday in Danville, Alabama at the Oakville Indian Mounds. This will be the second time in the past three years that Oakville Indian Mounds will be the course for the GSC Championships.

 

Coming off the end of the regular season, the Wolves believe they have a chance to make some noise in the GSC Championships this year. The Wolves will be in a 14-team field this year.

 

Head Coach Ryan Bailey believes with the results that the Wolves have put together this season that the team is running at their best going into the championships this Saturday. Bailey said “the girls’ times have really began dropping over the past two weeks and I hope they all PR this weekend.”

 

Senior runner Bailey Roberts said “I am looking forward to racing this weekend. It’s my last cross country race ever and it’s on my all time favorite course.” Roberts went on to say “Coach Bailey has us primed to PR and I’m sure we will do just that.”

 

West Georgia will be looking for strong performances from runners such as Mackenzie Morse who has been the Wolves leading runner this season. Alaina Burnside has also been hitting her stride going into the final race of the season. Alex Smith, Kim Dezwart, Paige Braswell, and Shelby Parsekian will round out the remaining spots for the race on Saturday.

 

The women’s race will  be on Saturday October 21, with the race beginning at approximately 10 a.m. The course at Oakville Indian Mounds will be a 5k race for the women.
