CARROLLTON, Ga. – Three days after the completion of the UWG softball season, one freshman standout was honored on Wednesday by the Gulf South Conference as Alley Taylor was named the GSC’s Co-Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on the First Team of the All-Conference squad.

Taylor led the UWG squad in hitting with a .401 average and shares the Co-Freshman of the Year award with Alabama Huntsville’s Kiara Akles, and makes it two consecutive years that a UWG player has been named Freshman of the Year as Raven Smith earned the honor in 2017. Overall, Taylor is the fourth player in school history to win the conference honor.

On top of Taylor leading the team, the freshman ranks 11th in the GSC in hitting and had a .440 average against GSC opponents which was fifth best in the league.
