CARROLLTON, Ga. – One of the top newcomers to UWG Softball was honored by the Gulf South Conference on Wednesday as Hannah Scarbrough was named Second Team All-GSC as voted by the league’s coaches.


The sophomore from Newnan leads the team in hitting heading into the Gulf South Conference with a .366 average. Scarbrough has slugged 15 doubles on the year, ranking second in the GSC, and her total hits of 62 ranks sixth. On the year, Scarbrough leads the team with 17 multi-hit games, including two four-hit games.


On the base paths, Scarbrough has 19 stolen bases in 19 attempts, ranking 11th in the league. Defensively, she has been solid in center field, making just two errors for a .978 fielding percentage.


In the last two series, Scarbrough has went 11-for-20 with two doubles and two home runs to help West Georgia to a 5-1 record to close out the regular season.


Scarbrough and the Wolves open the 2019 Gulf South Conference Tournament on Thursday morning at 11 a.m. as West Georgia takes on third-seeded Mississippi College from the UWF Softball Complex in Pensacola, Florida.
