CARROLLTON, Ga. – For the first time in over 10 years, the UWG Softball team has cracked the top-10 in the latest NCAA South Region Rankings.


The day before opening the Gulf South Conference Tournament, the Wolves come in at number 10, finding themselves in the regional rankings for the first time since the 2007 season.


West Georgia is one of six GSC teams featured in the rankings, led by West Florida in the top spot in the South Region. Alabama Huntsville comes in at third while Valdosta State is fourth. Thursday’s opponent in the GSC Tournament opening round, Mississippi College is ranked seventh while West Alabama is ninth.

The Wolves and Choctaws open the GSC Tournament tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. EST at the UWF Softball Complex in Pensacola, Florida.
