CARROLLTON, Ga. – After winning nine of their final twelve conference games, the UWG softball team now sets their sights on the Gulf South Conference Tournament set to begin on Thursday in Pensacola, Florida.
The Wolves, the sixth seed in the tournament, drew the third-seeded Mississippi College Choctaws in the opening round and kick off the entire tournament as game one on Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. EST at the UWF Softball Complex.

Game Two | UWG (6) vs. UAH(2)/Union(7) | 11:00 a.m. EST or 4:00 p.m. EST | Pensacola, Fla.
West Georgia finished the regular season winning four straight conference series, and comes into the GSC Tournament at 28-26 overall and finished 14-16 in Gulf South Conference play. Mississippi College took two of three from rival Delta State to end the regular season at 38-12 overall and 19-9 in GSC play.
Last Time Out
Last weekend, the Wolves went down to Valdosta and swept the doubleheader over VSU to clinch the series, but came up short in their quest for a sweep, dropping the finale, 3-2. Sophomore Hannah Scarbrough hit over .600 with seven hits in the series, and had a double and two home runs.
MC Series in Review
The Choctaws swept West Georgia back in late February in Clinton, but two of those games were decided by just one run, including a 4-3 MC win in 11 innings in the series finale. West Georgia struggled at the plate that series, hitting just .143 as a team.
Tickets for the GSC Tournament will be sold as a daily pass. They will be sold at $8 for adults, $5 for 6-17 year olds, and for $5 with a student ID from a GSC institution. Children aged five and under will be free. Tournament passes may be purchased for $20. All ticket sales are cash only, and gates open 60 minutes prior to the first game.
