CONOVER, N.C. – A second round 77 at the Rock Barn Golf and Spa for Sam Jones put the junior in an 87th place tie at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional in Conover, North Carolina.

 

Jones opened Tuesday’s round with a string of five straight pars before running into trouble with a double bogey on the sixth hole. He then followed that up with a bogey on seven before closing out the front nine with a birdie on the ninth.

 

It was five pars and four bogeys on the back nine for Jones as he finished one shot better than he did in the first round, firing a 77.

 

Top-Ranked West Florida leads the tournament by two shots with one round to play. Jones will close out his Regional in tomorrow’s third round. He will begin the day in a tie for 87th place.
