CARROLLTON, Ga. – Two UWG men’s golfers were named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars on Wednesday as Sam Jones and Carson Vaughn earned the honor given by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

It’s the second straight honor for Vaughn, who graduated in May with a degree in physical education, and is set to serve as the golf team’s graduate assistant this fall as he pursues a Master’s degree.

For Jones, he adds another honor to an already impressive resume to his junior season, as he was a first team All-GSC selection and earned an individual bid to the NCAA South/Southeast Regional to end the season.

“We’re extremely proud of Sam and Carson, for not only the way they represent us on the course, but the hard work they put into their academics,” said head coach Todd Selders.

To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 78, and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.2.
