DAHLONEGA, Ga. – One golfer is in the top-10 and the Wolves sit in fifth as the UWG men’s golf team shot a two-round total of 587 at the UNG Invitational at Achasta Golf Club in Dahlonega, Georgia.


Sam Jones is the golfer that finds himself tied for sixth after a roller coaster of a day to open the tournament. The senior shot 75 in the opening round before coming back with a career-best 65 in the second round. Jones’s second round was also the lowest single-round for the entire field on Monday.


After an opening round 70, freshman Lucas Mota struggled with a 76 in the second round. The Barcelona native is in an 18th place tie with one round to play tomorrow.


Rece Moore is in a 37th place tie after rounds of 78 and 75, and is three strokes ahead of Blake Kollin who shot 79 in the first round and 77 in the second round.


Senior Daniel Benson shot the second best round for the Wolves in the first round with a 71, but an 88 in the second round puts Benson in a 45th place tie with 18 holes to play on Tuesday.


Young Harris leads the tournament after the first round as the Mountain Lions shot 556 over two rounds on Monday.


The Wolves will wrap up the UNG Fall Invitational with the final round from Achasta Golf Club tomorrow in Dahlonega.
