DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Sam Jones made history for both UWG and the UNG Fall Invitational as the senior shot 64 in the final round at Achasta Golf Club in Dahlonega on Tuesday to win the individual title.

Not only did Jones tie a school record with the 64, but it also tied a tournament record for the UNG Fall Invitational. Jones opened the tournament with a 75, but then came back with rounds of 65 and 64 to shoot 204 to win the tournament by three strokes. It’s the second career win for the New Zealander, as he also won the Matt Dyas Invitational in October of 2017.

Jones tied the single-round school record of 64, and shares that with Lucas Mota, who shot 69 in the final round of his third career tournament. Mota finished in a 13th place tie with a 54-hole total of 215.

Rece Moore’s final round of 76 put him in a 34th place tie with a 229 total. Daniel Benson rebounded after an 88 in yesterday’s second round shooting a 72 to give the senior a 231 total and in a 37th-place tie.

It was a 79 in the final round for Blake Kollin who shot 235 over three rounds and came in 43rd place.

Young Harris won the team portion of the event with an 839 total. The Wolves were in fifth place with an 868 total.

West Georgia’s next tournament is their annual home tournament, set for October 22-23 at Oak Mountain Championship Golf Club. Jones is the defending champion of the Matt Dyas Invitational.
