CARROLLTON, Ga. – Low scores were all around on Monday at the Matt Dyas Invitational at Oak Mountain Championship Golf Club, and the UWG men’s golf team shot rounds of 291 and 283 and sit in second place after 36 holes of competition.

A pair of brothers led the Wolves on day one as Ethan Jones and Sam Jones both had solid rounds on Monday. The youngest Jones, Ethan, opened with a 72 and followed it up with 69 in the second round. He will begin tomorrow’s final round in fifth place. Sam also shot a 69 in the second round, but a 73 in the opening round puts him in a sixth-place tie.

Rece Moore shot rounds of 74 and 73 on the day and sits in a 29th place tie after his first career round at the Matt Dyas Invitational. Moore had a two-shot advantage on Dan Benson who shot even-par 72 in round one but finished the day with a 77 to sit in a 44th place tie.

Lucas Mota shot an uncharacteristic 78 in the first round but came back with an even-par 72 in the afternoon.

Both Blake Kollin and Ryan Williams played as individuals with Kollin shooting rounds of 77 and 78 while Williams shot back-to-back rounds of 78 in the first tournament action of his career.

As a team, the Wolves are in a three-way tie for second place. Young Harris leads the tournament after shooting 13-under par over 36 holes. The final round begins tomorrow at 9 a.m. from Oak Mountain Championship Golf Club.
