CARROLLTON, Ga. – Trailing by 11 strokes entering the final round, the UWG men’s golf team made a run for it but came up four strokes short at the Matt Dyas Invitational at Oak Mountain Championship Golf Club.

 

The Wolves shot a final round 285, and finished with an 859 total, finishing second behind Young Harris who shot 292 on Tuesday to take the team title.

 

Ethan Jones without a doubt played the best golf of his career, capping off the tournament with a final round 70 to finish with a 211 total, finishing two shots out of first. Jones finished behind Dylan Lillard who won the individual title, shooting rounds of 72, 67, and 70.

 

Jones’ older brother Sam, who began the day one shot behind Ethan shot a 73 to finish just outside the top-10 in 11th. After a 78 in the first round, Lucas Mota bounced back with a 72 in the second round, but was back in form with a 69 on Tuesday, finishing in 26th place with a 219 total.

 

Reece Moore was one shot behind Mota with a 220 as he finished the tournament with a 73, putting him in a 34th place tie. Daniel Benson was the final golfer in the lineup, and shot 79 and finished in 53rd place.

 

Ryan Williams and Blake Kollin played as individuals and finished 53rd and 66th respectively.

 

West Georgia has now wrapped up their fall schedule, and will not compete again until February as they compete at Georgia Southwestern’s tournament in Americus, Georgia.
