HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – Day two for Sam Jones did not go as planned as the senior shot an 82 in the second round of the NCAA South/Southeast Regional at the El Campeon Course at Mission Inn Resort and Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.
Jones started on the back nine, and opened with a bogey, but got back to even with a birdie on the 14th hole. But as he made the turn, Jones made a bogey on 16, and a double on 17, turning at three-over.
The front nine proved to be even tougher for Jones as he made five straight bogeys and then a double on his next to last hole, finishing with a 10-over par 82.
Jones is now tied for 88th with 18 holes to play on Saturday.
Gulf South Conference foe West Florida is currently tied with Lynn atop the team leaderboard at nine-over par after 36 holes.
