KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – A first round 290 for the UWG men’s golf team puts the Wolves in seventh place after 18 holes of the Kiawah Island Invitational at Osprey Point.

 

Sophomore Rece Moore continued his stellar play to start the season, firing an opening round 68 putting him in a tie for third place. Moore’s four-under round finds him two shots back of the individual leader, Jon Parker.

 

Lucas Mota went out and shot an even-par 72 in the opening round, and begins tomorrow’s final round in a 25th place tie. Two shots behind Mota was Adam Park with a first round 74, good for a 39th place tie.

 

It was a 76 for Blake Kollin in the first round, putting the sophomore in a 58th place tie. Jonathon Toftebrant was the final golfer in the lineup, shooting a 78 and putting the freshman in a tie for 69th place.

 

The Wolves are in seventh place with a the two-over team total and five shots outside of the top five. Tournament host USC-Aiken leads the team portion of the event, shooting a 12-under round of 276 on Monday.

 

The final round gets underway tomorrow morning from Osprey Point on Kiawah Island, South Carolina.
