CARROLLTON, Ga. – The week the UWG men’s golf team looks forward to each year is nearly here as the Wolves are set to host the 9th Annual Matt Dyas Invitational at Oak Mountain Championship Golf Club in Carrollton.
Head coach Todd Selders will put out a lineup on their home course looking to win their fourth team title in the history of the Matt Dyas Invitational and their first since 2015. Adam Park will occupy the one spot for the Wolves, followed by Jack Brennan, Lucas Mota, Rece Moore, and Jonathon Toftebrant. West Georgia will have two individuals playing in Ethan Jones and Blake Kollin.
There will be 11 teams including the Wolves in the field this year at Oak Mountain. Teams include Christian Brothers, Clayton State, Delta State, Emmanuel, Lee, Montevallo, Mississippi College, North Greenville, Shorter, Trevecca Nazarene and West Georgia.
The defending champion Young Harris will not be in the field to try to repeat, but Clayton State is in the field and the Lakers have won two titles since the first Matt Dyas Invitational in 2012.
Last season, the Wolves finished second behind YHC with a five-under total of 859. Ethan Jones finished second individually shooting rounds of 72-69-70.
Teams will play a practice round on Sunday and the first two rounds on Monday with the final round taking place on Tuesday.
