CARROLLTON, Ga. – For the first time since 2015 the West Georgia Wolves men’s golf team captured the team title at their annual home event, shattering records on the way to a nine-stroke victory at Oak Mountain Championship Golf Club.
The Wolves broke the 54-hole tournament record by shooting a 10-under par final round, good for a 29-under par total of 836. That number also set a 54-hole school scoring record, besting the previous mark of 847 (-17) at the 2015 UNG Fall Invite.
Behind UWG in the team standings was Delta state and Lee who tied for second with 845 totals. Delta State’s Zach Zediker set a 54-hole individual scoring record at the Matt Dyas Invitational, winning the individual championship with a 13-under total of 203.
West Georgia had two golfers in the top-five to make the all-tournament team as Jack Brennan and Rece Moore each tied for fourth with 208 totals. Brennan caped off the tournament with a final round 68 while Moore came in with a 69 on Tuesday.
Adam Park also posted an under-par round on Tuesday, shooting 71 to finish just outside the top-10 in a tie for 11th with a 212 total.
Just one shot behind Park was sophomore Lucas Mota, whose final round 70 gave him a 213 total, good for a tie for 13th. Jonathon Toftebrant was the final golfer in the UWG lineup and the freshman struggled with a final round 84 and finished in 39th place.
Ethan Jones and Blake Kollin played as individuals finishing in 43rd and 60th places, respectively. Jones shot 75 in the final round while Kollin finished with an 84.
