CARROLLTON, Ga. - The West Georgia Wolves competed in the 2017 Gulf South Conference Championships on Saturday morning, finishing 12th on the Jesse Owens Course in Danville, Ala.
Freshman Isaac Hernandez was the top finisher for the Wolves in the 8K, finishing with a time of 26:42.74, which was good for 44th place in the meet. He was the only UWG runner in the top-50 at the championship meet this season. Sophomore Thomas Adkins was second across for West Georgia, finishing with a time of 27:01.26, good for 52nd place.
Freshman Walt Douglas was the third counting time for West Georgia, finishing with a time of 28:10.86, followed by sophomore Jacob Giammarco at 28:53. The final counting time for the Wolves came from another freshman, Jedidiah Turner, who finished with a time of 30:12.36.
The Wolves will be back on the course on November 2 in Lakeland, Fla., competing in the NCAA South Regional Championships.
