CARROLLTON, Ga. – The men’s cross country team is set to compete in their opening meet tomorrow in Carrollton at approximately 6:25 p.m. starting at the Observatory Field. Cross country’s Friday home meet is the first and only meet that will be in Carrollton for the 2018 season.
The Wolves have a very young team this year, composed mostly of freshmen and sophomores. There are three returning runners from 2017, including junior, Thomas Adkins who led the Wolves last season. Johan Negusse and Parks Turner are also returning for the 2018 season.
Among the newcomers is Solomon Komen, a sophomore transfer from Auburn. Komen is sure to be an asset to the men’s team for the 2018 season.
“Practice has been going real well, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the men will transfer their practices to the course on Friday. This competition will be a good indicator of how the rest of the season will go,” said Head Coach Ryan Bailey.
The Wolves will be competing against Lagrange College, Clayton State, and Clark Atlanta in a 7k starting at approximately 6:25 p.m. on Friday. The race will begin on the Observatory Field and utilize the trails through that part of campus and finish on the same field.
