CARROLLTON, Ga. - First year head coach Ryan Bailey and his Wolves are set to open a new era in UWG's cross country program as the West Georgia men are set to compete at the JSU Struts Season Opener on Friday evening at approxiately 7:40 (EST) on the 5K course at Oxford Lakes in Oxford, Ala.
Bailey will rely on two returners to lead the way as Thomas Adkins and Jacob Giammarco return for their second season in the program following solid freshman campaigns. The duo will be at the top of the lineup as the Wolves open the season with a 5K. "Needless to say the team is young, but our returners are well conditioned as we begin the season, so I look for them to lead the way and run well as we open the season," said Bailey.
A pair of freshmen, Isaac Hernandez and Walt Douglas, will occupy the third and fourth spots for the Wolves, while Jonah Negusse and Parks Turner will round out the lineup.
"I expect our top four to run well and lead the way for us against a strong field of Division I talent," added Bailey, "We have some guys at the bottom of the lineup who have been running well in practice, and I expect them to improve with experience."
