CARROLLTON, Ga. – The West Georgia Tennis Program will begin its 2018-19 regular season this weekend as they travel to Memphis, TN.

The Wolves will play four matches in the span of three days in their opening weekend.  They will first take the court against Rhodes College Friday, February 8 at 4:30 p.m. with Spring Hill and Southern Arkansas the next day at 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. West Georgia will then wrap up with a match against Christian Brothers on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

“This will be the first real test for the team this season,” Coleman said. “These first couple of matches on this trip are non-conference, which is a great chance for the players to get in there and let them see what they are really going to run into.”

“Everyone is playing really well, the team is healthy and we have a legitimate chance to improve our record significantly over last year, based on what we’ve seen in the conference and players we’ve brought in,” Coleman said. “Our goal is to make the conference tournament and this year I think we can do it.”

UWG Tennis will be returning 3 senior standouts this year, Shelby Brown, Jamie Bryant, and Meg Cummings.  All three helped the team in single and doubles victories last season. Bryant is currently tied for second in singles victories and tied for fifth in the most combined singles and doubles victories in a single season. Brown is currently tied for third in single season doubles victories as well as tied for fifth in combined singles and doubles victories. Cummings is currently tied for third in single season doubles victories from her 2016-17 season.
