CARROLLTON, Ga. - The West Georgia Wolves closed out the 2019 season on Tuesday afternoon at Sunset Hills Country Club, falling by a 7-0 count to the West Alabama Tigers in Gulf South Conference play.
The Tigers came into the match as an undefeated team in GSC play, moving to 16-4 overall on the year and 11-0 in league play with the win. The loss closes the season for the Wolves at 7-11 overall and 2-9 in conference play.
The Wolves were competitive in the No. 1 and No. 2 singles flight on the afternoon, with No. 1 singles starter Timia Commodore falling in a pair of 6-3 singles sets. No. 2 starter Sofia Soltis had the most competitive match of the afternoon, losing 6-4 in the first set and falling 7-5 in the second. In No. 1 doubles play, Commodore and Soltis lost 6-2 to the Tigers.
Seniors Shelby Brown and Meg Cummings lost 6-1 in No. 2 doubles play. In No. 3 singles play, Brown fell by a 6-1, 6-1 score. Cummings closed out her collegiate career falling 6-1 in the first set and 6-3 in the second. No. 3 doubles flight Bailey McCammon and senior Jamie Bryant lost 6-0 in doubles play. Bryant fell 6-2 and 6-0 in No. 6 singles while McCammon lost 6-2, 6-1 in No. 5 singles.
