Carrollton, GA - The third week of Gulf South Conference play for the 2017 West Georgia baseball team brings the Lee University Flames to Carrollton, GA for a three-game series at Cole Field.

The Wolves enter this series with an overall record of 6-8 and a GSC record of 1-5. The Flames come to Cole Field sporting an overall record of 11-4 and a Gulf South record of 3-3. Most recently the Flames dropped two of three games to conference foe Delta State.

West Georgia is hitting .279 as a team so far in 2017. The offense is led by Junior Ben Utley who has hit .448 on the season. Utley has 26 total hits, including six doubles and 11 RBI. Senior Drew Eady has also been productive, hitting .308 with a triple and 13 runs scored.

Ryan Sapp has impressed so far for the UWG pitching staff. The senior has a 2.89 in 18.2 innings pitched. He has commanded the strike zone as well, accumulating a team-high 18 strikeouts on the year with only two walks allowed.

Lee enters the weekend hitting an even .300 on the year. They have scored also tallied 31 doubles and 13 homeruns. Senior Geremy Walton has a .407 batting average in 2017. He has added four doubles, two triples, five homeruns, and 17 RBI. Jordan Howard leads the Flames with a .409 batting average.

Kit Larson has been productive four Lee out of the bullpen. The reliever has a 1.17 ERA with five saves. Art Vidrio is 3-0 on the year with a 1.57 ERA. He has only allowed four earned runs on the year while striking out 15 batters.
