Carrollton, GA - After a midweek win over the Young Harris Mountain Lions the West Georgia Wolves now head north to Rome, GA for a three game Gulf South Conference Series against the Shorter Hawks.

The Wolves swept the Hawks last season in a three game home series. This season West Georgia has an 11-18 record overall, with a 4-14 record in GSC play. Shorter enters the series with an overall record of 16-14 and a 6-12 record in conference play. Most recently the Hawks dropped a midweek matchup to Carson-Newman by a score of 11-4.

The Wolves enter the game on a hot streak offensively after scoring 20 runs against Young Harris on Wednesday. The Wolves had 16 hits in the game, including multi-hit games from four different players.

West Georgia is hitting .293 as a team so far in 2017 with 187 runs scored on 294 hits. Ben Utley continues to lead the charge offensively with a .345 batting average. He also has a team leading 26 RBI. Junior Price Peters leads the Wolves with five homeruns.

The Hawks enter the series with a team average of .269. They have 295 hits on the year, including 41 doubles and 33 homeruns. Bailey Gerstner leads Shorter with a .442 average, including 12 RBI and 20 runs scored. Blaze Vazquez follows with a .365 average. He adds six homeruns and 17 RBI.

The West Georgia pitching staff has a 5.65 ERA as a whole. Dalton Reagin leads the Wolves with a 4.03 ERA. He has 26 strikeouts and only seven walks allowed in 29.0 innings pitched.

Shorter has a team ERA of 4.94, allowing 183 runs in 249.2 innings pitched. The Hawks have given up an average of 11.25 runs over their last four games. Jonathan Pintaro leads the Hawks with a 2.20 ERA. He is 2-2 on the year with 21 strikeouts.
