Wolves add 10 to 2017 Recruiting Class

CARROLLTON, Ga. – Head baseball coach Skip Fite announced today ten new signees to the 2017 class, bringing the total to 15 new players for the 2018 season for the Wolves.
Of the ten new players joining the Wolves, eight played high school ball in Georgia, with two coming from Alabama high schools. The Wolves add six junior college players, a Division I transfer, and three true freshmen.
Four of the ten signees are pitchers, with six position players. Dylan Johnson, a freshman out of Callaway High School has the potential to be a two way player on the mound and in the outfield.
Jordan Schmits is the Division I transfer in the bunch, coming back after a redshirt season at South Alabama. Schmits prepped at Northgate High School in nearby Newnan.

The Wolves signed one local Carroll County player as Thomas Brown comes to UWG by way of Mount Zion High School.
These ten players join five early signees, announced back in November. Dan Oberst, Andres Fernandez, Joseph Hill, Connor Stephenson, and Jacob Lane all signed back in November, to bring the total to 15 new players signed for the new season.
Oberst hit .392 in 97 at-bats in his sophomore season at Indian River State College in Florida. The catcher had one homer and 16 RBI on the season. Jacob Lane comes back to Carrollton after two seasons at Andrew College. The Central High product pitched 32.2 innings in 2017 for the Tigers. Lane had an ERA of 6.61 and went 2-3 on the season. Connor Stephenson, another pitcher who signed in November, went 1-0 in three games for Southern Union this past spring.
Joseph Hill was the lone high school player of the early signees and had an outstanding senior season for Heritage High School in Ringgold, Ga. Hill was an All-State selection in 2017 as he hit .386 with 14 doubles, 44 runs, and 36 RBI as he helped the Generals to the GHSA AAAA Semifinals.
