CARROLLTON, Ga. - Soon after being drafted in the 20th round by the Seattle Mariners, Cade Marlowe received his first assignment, as he was assigned to the Everett AquaSox of the Northwest League on June 13. Two days later, Marlowe made his first start for the AquaSox, holding down the left field spot on June 15, 2019.
Marlowe started strong, going 2-for-3 on that night against the Tri-City Dust Devils. He was a huge part of a four-run first inning in the game, homering in his first professional at-bat, a three-run shot that propelled the AquaSox to a 7-3 victory. In his first two games, the Tifton native started in right field, but he transitioned to center field in the last two games and was the leadoff hitter for the AquaSox against the Boise Hawks on June 18.
The AquaSox play in the North Division of the Northwest League, which is a short season Class A professional league. The eight-team league features three The season began on June 15, after Major League teams selected this year's crop of players in the draft, and it ends in early September.
