CARROLLTON, GA – Though his playing career ended earlier this week, honors continue to roll in for Cade Marlowe. The University of West Georgia baseball standout was named Thursday to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Baseball Team

Marlowe earned his bachelor’s degree in 2018, graduating magna cum laude as a Pre-Med/Biology major. He carried a 3.85 grade point average (GPA) into spring semester, where he began work toward a degree in psychology.

On the field, Marlowe was brilliant during his West Georgia career. The Tifton native was a two-time All-Gulf South Conference First Team selection. He set new school records for both career and single season stolen bases. Also, Marlowe ended his career in the top five in the UWG record both for base hits, runs scored, runs batted in, triples, and games played.

Marlowe is a four-time member of the Gulf South Conference Academic Honor Roll. He was voted to the 2018 Academic All-GSC Baseball Team, and is a strong contender to repeat that honor this year. Also, Marlowe is a two-time winner of the coveted Mr. Wolf title at UWG’s end-of-year Westpy Awards.

Thursday’s honor for Marlowe marks the first such designation for a West Georgia student-athlete since 2014. Then, football’s Alex Macaulay was named to both the All-District and Academic All-America® Team.

The 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Baseball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (when selected) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
