CARROLLTON, Ga. - The West Georgia men's basketball program picked up a Division I transfer post-player from the Atlantic 10 this week, as head coach Dave Moore announced the signing of Gerald Blount for the 2018-19 season.

Moore is excited with the addition of Blount to the UWG program, “He is a physical, athletic forward that will provide lots of versatility to our roster. We expect Gerald to have an immediate impact in the GSC.

Blount (6-6, 225) is a forward who played for two seasons with St. Joseph's of the Atlantic 10. He comes into West Georgia as a junior in 2018-19, coming back to his Georgia roots, as he is originally from Suwanee, Ga.

UWG’s coach is also very high on Blount’s basketball pedigree, “He has spent the last two seasons at St. Joseph’s playing for one of the best basketball coaches in the country in Phil Martelli. We are thrilled to have Gerald at UWG and look forward to big things from him for the next two seasons.”

Blount joins incoming freshmen Tomasso Gini and Jared Simmons in the first recruiting class under head coach Dave Moore, who took over the program in the spring of 2018. The new-look Wolves will report for the fall semester in mid-August, and official practice begins on October 15.
