CARROLLTON, Ga. - For the fourth time this season, UWG senior guard Marquill Smith has garnered Player of the Week honors, announced Tuesday by league officials.

The week saw Smith lead the Wolves to a 1-1 record with a win over West Florida on Saturday at The Coliseum. He had 32 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists against Valdosta State on Thursday and had 31 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists against the Argos Saturday. He is now averaging 26.5 points and 8.7 rebounds per game this season.

Smith was first named GSC Player of the Week on November 27, then again on January 8 and January 29 before this week's honor. He has been the leader in Gulf South Conference scoring for the entire season, and for much of the year, has been the leader in rebounding. For the year, he has 10 double-doubles, including in four of the last five games. In each of those four games, Smith has also scored at least 31 points, and he has had a 30-point game nine times this year.

West Georgia will be back in action on Thursday, taking on the Auburn-Montgomery Warhawks in Montgomery, Ala. Tip-off for that contest is set for 8:30 p.m., or 30 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game.
