Carrollton, GA – Postseason honors continued this week for Marquill Smith. The West Georgia Wolves’ basketball has added All-America and All-District honors to his impressive list of accolades.

Smith was named Tuesday to a pair of All-America squads. He was voted to the NABC (National Association of Basketball Coaches) 2019 Division II All-America Team. This honor came on the heels of his being named a first-team member to the NABC All-South District Team.

Smith added to the honors later on Tuesday when he was named to the Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association All-America Team. He was voted a third-team All-America in nationwide balloting of sports information directors from Division II.

Smith was last week named to the D2CCA All-South Region Team. Earlier in March, he was voted Gulf South Conference Player of the Year, and a first team member of the All-GSC Team.

Smith posted overwhelming numbers during his senior season for the Wolves. He led the league in both scoring at 27.3 points per game and rebounding with 8.7 per contest. He also topped the league in three-point field goals made with 3.6 per contest. His scoring average was good for the fifth-best single season in Gulf South Conference history, and his 25.2 scoring average over his two years at UWG was the third-best in conference history.

Friday, Smith will play in the 2019 Reese’s Division II College All-Star Game. The contest will tip at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 29, from the Ford Center in Evansville, Ind. The game will be played during the NCAA Division II Elite Eight on the day between the semifinals and championship games. He will join former UWG standouts Da’Ron Sims and Deonta Stocks as the only UWG players ever selected for the contest.
