CARROLLTON, Ga. – The UWG women’s basketball team will look to continue their hot start, and remain unbeaten on Tuesday night when they travel to Fort Valley, Georgia for a non-conference tilt against the Fort Valley State Wildcats at 5:30 p.m.

West Georgia is 2-0 and riding high after a perfect start to the season last weekend in Tampa. The Wolves defeated Florida Tech and Tampa in a two-day event on Tampa’s campus, starting 2-0 for the first time since 2014-15.

Ashley Lee was phenomenal over the weekend, averaging 15.5 points and 7.5 rebounds over the two games. On Friday, the senior recorded her first career double-double with a career-high 17 points and 10 rebounds.

The Wolves will need Lee to keep up the solid play as they take on a Fort Valley State team that enters the game 1-1 with a loss to Gulf South Conference team Valdosta State and a win over West Florida, another GSC team that has made the NCAA Tournament two out of the last three years, and reached the Elite Eight in 2017.

Fort Valley State is led by Nola Carter who averages 11.5 points per game and just behind her in the statistics is Torri Myers who scores 11 a game for the Wildcats.

For West Georgia, two other Wolves are averaging double-figures after two games as Edley Drawhorn scores 13.5 per game and Siera Carter adds 10.5 per contest. The trio of Drawhorn, Carter, and the aforementioned Lee also accounted for 13 of West Georgia’s 32 assists over opening weekend.

Tuesday will be the 30th overall meeting between the Wolves and Wildcats with UWG leading the all-time series 18-11. The Wolves have won four straight over FVSU, with the last Wildcat win coming in December of 2011.

Tip-off for Tuesday’s game is set for 5:30 p.m. from the HPE Basketball Arena from the campus of Fort Valley State.
