Valdosta, Georgia - West Georgia had the roughest outing of the season over the weekend at the VSU Crossover, which pits four Gulf South Conference teams against four Sunshine State Conference teams. The Wolves were never able to get into a rhythm and went 0-4 on the weekend.
The SSC was represented by #25 St. Leo, Florida Tech, Rollins, and Lynn, who were a combined 48-17 entering the weekend, while the GSC was represented by West Georgia, Montevallo, Valdosta State, and Alabama-Huntsville, who were a combined 25-34 coming in.
The SSC proved to be the better conference this time out, as the four Floridian schools went a perfect 16-0, and dropped only five sets in those games.
The Wolves opened with Lynn (8-6) and #25 Saint Leo (15-3) on Friday of the invitational. The Fighting Knights and the Lions each won their match 3-0 against UWG. Saturday's opponents were Florida Tech (15-3) and Rollins (14-5) and the outcomes were the same as the day before, as the Panthers defeated UWG 3-0, and the Tars won 3-1.
West Georgia's losing streak is now at nine games, and the record was fallen to 5-11.
The Wolves look to turn things around when conference play resumes on Tuesday night back in Valdosta against the hated Lady Blazers at 7:00 pm.
