Carrollton, GA - The West Georgia Wolves, playing in their second straight road contest, fell Saturday afternoon at the hands of the Henderson State Reddies, 54-0.
The Wolves went for broke early, going up top on the first play of the game. Junior quarterback
Sean Gray faded back and lofted the ball deep down the sideline. Henderson State cornerback Micah McDonald intercepted the ball, giving HSU the ball at their own 22.
The Reddies reached midfield, but the UWG defense stiffened, forcing a punt. On the ensuing possession, West Georgia moved the ball for one first down, but a miscue on third down in the form of another interception gave Henderson State the ball at the UWG 27 yard line.
Six plays later, Kenard Springer pounded the ball up the middle for the first score of the game. The Reddies followed that with four straight possessions that ended with a score, taking a commanding 31-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.
West Georgia returns to University Stadium in Carrollton on Thursday evening, taking on Arkansas-Monticello in the Wolves' first televised game of the season as a part of the GSC Game of the Week on CSS.
