The two Georgia colleges have not met as many times as one would think, with the Wolves holding a 4-1 advantage in the five-game series  The lone win for GCSU came in the last meeting in the 2006-07 season. The game was a part of a yearly All-Georgia Classic that featured UWG, Georgia College and State, Columbus State and Morehouse. In that contest, the Bobcats came away with an 84-71 victory. It was the only time in the four-year span of the All-Georgia Classic where GCSU picked up a win over West Georgia.

But the present is a different picture than three years ago, as the Wolves are headed by Michael Cooney, who succeeded Ed Murphy as head coach in 2007.  The Wolves enter Saturday’s contest with a 1-1 record on the year after a thrilling 63-59 victory on Wednesday over the Morehouse Tigers.

Georgia College and State enters the contest with a 1-0 record after an 89-77 victory in the 2009-10 season opener against  Newberry on Wednesday.
