Carrollton, GA - For just over three quarters last Thursday night, the West Georgia Wolves held right with the highly vaunted offense of Valdosta State. But in that last part of the final quarter, the VSU offense took off, scoring three touchdowns to hand the Wolves a 31-20 loss on Senior Night.

This week brings a similar challenge in the proud program at Delta State. The Statesmen are normally in the hunt for both the conference championship and the Division II playoffs.
But this year is a different year and DSU has been on a bit of a roller coaster, coming into the weekend with a 4-5 record overall and 4-4 in the Gulf South Conference. The most recent loss for the Statesmen came on Saturday evening in a 35-20 defeat at the hands of Arkansas Tech.
The Wolves have also had their share of struggles this season, but have played inspired football over the past two weeks. Much of the change has come on the defensive side of the ball. Against VSU, West Georgia gave up nearly 60 yards less offense than their average over the course of the season.
Coming into last Thursday's game, the Wolves had four sacks on the year. Jeremy Cook had two against the Blazers and Brandon McEachern added a third in the game.
