Jenna Greathouse named Second Team All-GSC

Carrollton, GA - The Gulf South Conference released its annual All-GSC Women’s Soccer Team on Wednesday afternoon and senior Jenna Greathouse was the lone UWG representative, earning Second Team honors.

“I’m extremely happy for Jenna on this accomplishment,” said head coach Marisa Kovacs. “We challenged her on her game after last season and she responded to be a leader on the field for us this year.”

Greathouse, a native of Lenexa, Kan., scored two goals on the year for the Wolves and was the team leader in assists with four. Her eight points on the year were tops on the team as well.

Known for her powerful leg, Greathouse was a great commodity for Kovacs throughout the season on free-kicks, as the UWG senior was a threat to score from nearly anywhere on the opponent’s side of the field.

Her first goal of the year and her career came on September 18 against Georgia College and State University. With the Wolves trailing at halftime by a 2-0 count, Greathouse scored the game-tying goal on a free-kick from 25 yards out, sending the match into overtime. The second goal was of a similar ilk, but this time against Harding in a 2-2 tie.

Greathouse becomes the 13th player in the history of the West Georgia program to earn an All-Gulf South Conference nod. Of those 13 players, six have been Second Team honorees and 10 have played under Kovacs.
