Carrollton, GA - Facing one of the more formidable front lines in the Gulf South Conference, the West Georgia Wolves fell in the 2009 season finale Saturday at The Coliseum, losing 3-0 to the West Florida Lady Argonauts.
The Wolves struggled in the first two games of the day, committing 15 errors while collecting just 19 digs in that span. On the opposite side, West Florida could do little wrong, knocking down 31 kills with just four errors.
In the opening set, West Florida opened up a 13-9 lead, but the Wolves would not go quietly, using a combination of offensive attacks to pull to within two at 14-12. But the UWF front line proved to be too strong, closing out the first set at 25-14.
Game two was very similar, as the Argos hit .433 as a team en route to a second 25-14 victory.
In the third game, the Wolves came roaring back on the serving arm of setter
Taylor Mense. The freshman opened the set with three service aces as her squad built a 6-0 early lead.
West Georgia maintained their advantage for the bulk of the game, but West Florida clawed back to tie the set at 20. Once the game was tied, the UWF front line again kicked in as the Lady Argos outscored the Wolves 5-0 to close out the set and the season.
Junior
Jasmine Dotson led the UWG offensive with nine kills on the afternoon. Mense had her best game since returning from an illness with 25 assists in the match. Freshmen

Audrey Hipple added on the defensive end with 13 and 10 digs, respectively.
