UWG Soccer earns NSCAA Academic Distinction
Team honored for GPA

Carrollton, GA - The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced its annual Team Academic Awards recently, and the University of West Georgia soccer team was among the 300-plus teams that kept a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the 2008-09 academic year.
The Wolves maintained a team GPA of 3.34 during the most recent academic year, second-best in the Gulf South Conference among women's soccer programs. The only other GSC team listed among the 333 women's teams was Ouachita Baptist, which had a team GPA of 3.57.
"This award truly speaks to the dedication and determination that our players have," said UWG head coach Marisa Kovacs.
During that same academic year, then senior Erika Harvey earned GSC All-Academic honors for her hard work in the fall of 2008, earning a 3.75 GPA in Biology. in the same release, conference officials also named the Academic Honor Roll, consisting of any players who achieved a GPA of 3.0 or higher. West Georgia had 35 total names on that list through all of the fall sports, with 13 coming from the women's soccer program.
