CARROLLTON – The 2009 campaign for the West Georgia Wolves volleyball team is under two months away and Head Coach Gary Lee has completed his recruiting class with four final additions to bring the total to seven new pack members.

All four ladies come from the Southeast with three being Georgia natives and the fourth coming the way of Kentucky, and two graduated from their respective high school’s just this May, while two are JUCO transfers.

Making their collegiate debuts at West Georgia are Cat Neumann (5’10”, Louisville, KY) and Audrey Hipple (5’10”, Lilburn). Neumann is a graduate of Kentucky volleyball power in Assumption High School, while many of her teammates head D-I, the Wolves are gaining a force to help at the net. Hipple comes from a traditional power in Georgia in her own right in Parkview. She helped lead the Panthers to back-to-back Region 8 5A titles in 2007 and 2008. More impressive still is she sits in the top 10 all-time in Gwinnett in kills, digs, and aces and is also Parkview’s all-time leader in digs and aces.

The final two hail from Georgia, but are coming back to their home state after playing and gaining collegiate experience the last two seasons at the JUCO level. Kayla “K.K.” Potter (5’6”, McDonough) excelled at Spartanburg Methodist College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, as she exits as the all-time leader in digs, and was ranked in the top 15 in 2008 for aces and digs in the NJCAA. She is a graduate of Union Grove High School and was named Area Player of the Year for Region 2 5A in the 2007. Lisa Ogide (5’11”, Dallas) returns practically home, as the Paulding County High School alumnus, joins West Georgia after controlling the net at Southern Union in Alabama. Ogide totaled 513 kills at 2.5 kills per set her two seasons at SU, highlighted by her sophomore year of 392 kills at a solid 3.11 k/s.

The Wolves expect the ’09 class to make an instant impact and extend the season well into the postseason.
